The spread of Covid-19 has disrupted lives, economies and business in all the countries of the world. India and Nepal have been largely impacted by the consequences of the lockdown. Companies have to stop their activities until the end of the lockdown planned in the beginning of June.

In consequence, our drilling bore wells programme was halted due to the lockdown. The drilling company we are hiring, the masons and plumbers could not come anymore to compel to the law. This is a difficult time for Eternal Word Ministries, and we don’t know when things will come back to normality. It is heartbreaking because we receive a lot of requests from several villages asking for help, but we cannot at this moment give a favorable answer.

For all of our Partners who have given to the drilling bore wells programme, please be reassured the donations are kept for this project. The work is resuming gradually. We believe you will understand the situation. Once the work is done, you will be informed. If you have changed your address or email address, please inform our Office. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Dear Friends and Partners,

EWM serve some of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in India and Nepal and as you can imagine, they are the ones particularly affected during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the lockdown in India many families are going through starvation because of no more possibility to get a daily job and earn some money. In this pandemic crisis, we want to help the poorest. We already fed hundreds of people by giving them prepackaged food or by bringing grocery parcels. Your special contribution of £10 or $10 will help us to supply one week grocery for one family and help them to survive until the end of the lockdown extended until 3rd of May.

You can send your donation by Paypal or to EWM bank account in your country and put as remark – Covid-19 Emergency Fund Appeal. Thank you once again for your love and compassion.

NEWSLETTER – OCTOBER 2019

The repairing work of the compound wall is achieved at Pudukkottai children’s home!

We thank our dear Friends and Partners who helped us generously to rebuild the compound wall that was destroyed last year during the cyclonic storm. We still have to finalize certain works in some remaining areas that were damaged and we believe it will be achieved by the end of this year.

Once a week, the children are practicing sporting activities like baseball, badminton, cricket etc. Now, we bought a tennis table. The children are so pleased with this new activity and they are learning very quickly how to play this new game. During their spare time, the children are playing tennis table or carom, a very popular Indian game.

Every month, we gather the children born in the same month to have a collective birthday party. During that exciting time, we offer birthday cakes, candies and small gifts. The children love it!

Because of the severe drought in India, both ground and surface water sources face greater risks of contamination. To address the risks posed by this problem, we have to install drinking water purification plants in all of our Children’s homes. We did it in in our children’s home of Durugam. This method of purifying water treat the ground water very effectively and filter it of all impurities so the children can drink safe and clean water. We need 3 more drinking water purification plants. We value your prayers. Any financial support you could offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your love, prayer and help.

EWM Team and Pastor John went to one of the villages hit by the cyclone Gaja last November to distribute Christmas gifts to the children and relief help to the parents and villagers. They were very grateful! We also distribute one goat for each family in this village! This will be a great help for the people who lost their cattle during the cyclonic storm last November.

A cyclonic storm ‘Gaja’ hit Tamil Nadu coast and inlands, early morning  on Friday 16thwith winds speed up to 120 mph. It brought heavy rains and the strong winds caused severe damages. Several deaths were reported. All the schools and colleges are closed and there is still power interruptions in many areas.

Our Children’s home at Pudukkottai was severely hit by the cyclone. The power of the wind carried away the metal sheets of the shed were our vehicles are parked. Also, the metal sheets covering the building of the showers and toilets as well as the laundry room on the top of Naomi Sisters Home building flew away or were destroyed. Parts of the compound wall were destroyed; many trees are unrooted. There are many more damages that we still need to survey.

Children and staff were safe inside the main building during the cyclone. Everybody is doing well by the Grace of God. We praise Him for His divine protection upon our people and surrounding houses.

The estimated cost of the damage caused by this disastrous cyclone is estimated around $25,000/£22,000. We value your prayers for a quick recovery of this situation. If you wish to make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated in this time of need. Click on the Donate page and put as remark ‘Cyclone Relief Project’.

Thanking you with all our heart for your love and concern.
